A person died Monday night after a vehicle crashed and then caught fire in St. Paul.

According to St. Paul Police, officers were called to the 700 block of Gorman Avenue at about 9:03 p.m. for a reported crash. Multiple callers also reported seeing a grass fire near the crash site.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames and firefighters were working to extinguish them. Medics later found the body of a man who appeared to have been trapped in the vehicle, police said.

A police report identified the victim as Brendan Kent Bathrick.
