A report from the State Health Access Data Assistance Center (SHADAC) at the University of Minnesota says death rates from drug overdoses have declined significantly in the state.
According to the report, opioid deaths in Minnesota fell 31.8% in 2018. But, death rates from heroin, synthetic opioids, cocaine and psychostimulants remained steady since 2017.
When compared to other states, however, Minnesota's 2018 overdose rates were lower for all individual drug types.
Nationally, drug overdose death rates declined by 4.6%, according to the report. When looking solely at opioid overdose death rates, there was a 2.1% drop nationally.
