In 1986, Chip Lohmiller wrote himself into Gophers history by kicking a game-winning 31-yard field goal against the Michigan Wolverines. The Gophers beat Michigan 20-17 to claim the Little Brown Jug trophy in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

"That was a special win for me. When I made that kick the entire stadium was silent, except for our band that was in the corner of the endzone," Lohmiller told KSTP Sports Director Joe Schmit.

To say this was a special time for the Gophers would be an understatement. In the school's history, the Gophers have only won the Little Brown Jug trophy four times since 1967 (1977, '86, '05, '14). The Gophers haven't won a home game against the Wolverines since 1977. That's a 16-game home losing streak against the Wolverines. Michigan has a 75-25-3 record against the Gophers dating back to 1892.

Right now, Michigan is a mere three point favorite over the Gophers to win on Saturday at TCF Bank Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6:30pm central time and the game can be seen on 5 Eyewitness News.
