Identity of body found in median of Highway 169 released

The identity of the body found in a highway median Thursday has been released. 

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the deceased as 22-year-old Ryan Wesley Hobot. 


Hobot's body was found in the median of northbound Highway 169 at Canterbury Road in Shakopee by a passerby shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday Jan. 16. That person then called 911.

According to the Medical Examiner's report, Hobot died of multiple blunt force injuries from a motor vehicle crash. 

The BCA said State Patrol troopers and Shakopee police responded to a three-vehicle crash near the same location at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, but it's unclear if the incidents are related.

The BCA is leading the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
