West metro hockey team works to raise money for Type 1 diabetes research

Updated: February 06, 2020 06:04 AM

This weekend, a west metro hockey team will be playing for an extra special cause: Type 1 diabetes research.

For the past several years, the team has helped to raise money for Team KSTP at the JDRF One Walk.

The group of freshman hockey players from Minnetonka are dedicating their games this weekend in the Edina tournament to friends, family, and even competitors who are living with the challenges of Type 1 diabetes.

Last year, they helped to raised $7,500 for JDRF, and, this year, they are working to top that number and win the tournament in Edina.

Learn more about their fundraising efforts here and mark your calendars to join Team KSTP Feb. 22 at the Mall of America for the One Walk.
