Security efforts are ramping up at the Minnesota State Capitol after the FBI issued a warning in December and a riot broke out at the U.S. Capitol in Washington almost two weeks ago. The Walz administration said it was planning for the worst but hoping for the best.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump was impeached for a second time after House Democrats and 10 Republicans accuse him of inciting violence at the Capitol. Minnesota’s delegation was split on the vote: four Democrats supporting it, four Republicans against it.
Additionally, the 2021 legislative session is young but the political battles remain old. In an online legislative forum, the relationship between DFLers and Republicans began fraying over, among other things, the 2020 election. Questions also surround the future of Minnesota’s public transportation, which is an issue the Legislature started looking at.
